Conditions We Treat

Caregiver Stress
Caring for a loved one with a health condition or disability can be incredibly rewarding, but it also brings its own set of challenges.
Caregiver stress is common among those who provide long-term care, as they often experience physical and emotional exhaustion, frustration, and isolation. Our therapy services offer support to help caregivers manage these stressors by providing coping strategies, emotional relief, and tools to maintain a healthy balance between caregiving responsibilities and personal well-being. We understand the pressure caregivers face and work to empower them to continue their important role without sacrificing their own mental health.

College & Graduate Student Mental Health
The transition into college and graduate school can be both exciting and overwhelming.
Students often juggle academic responsibilities with personal challenges such as social pressures, life transitions, and increased independence. Therapy for college and graduate students addresses these unique concerns by offering tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. In addition, it helps students navigate life changes, build resilience, and develop coping mechanisms to maintain mental health during this critical phase of life. Whether it's managing coursework or adjusting to adulthood, our services are designed to guide students through these challenges and foster a sense of balance and confidence.

Trauma
Traumatic experiences, whether recent or in the past, can leave a lasting impact on mental and emotional well-being.
Trauma can manifest in various ways, including anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our trauma therapy focuses on helping individuals process these painful experiences, providing a safe and supportive environment to work through unresolved feelings. By using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, we help clients develop healthier coping mechanisms, build resilience, and regain control over their lives. With the right support, healing from trauma is possible, and we’re here to guide you on that journey.

Life Transitions
Life transitions, such as a career change, relocation, or major personal event, can be both exciting and stressful.
Even positive changes can bring uncertainty and challenges, leading to feelings of confusion, anxiety, or overwhelm. Our therapy services provide guidance and support to individuals navigating these transitions, helping them adapt and find clarity in new circumstances. We offer strategies to manage change, build confidence in decision-making, and develop a sense of purpose during uncertain times. Whether you're adjusting to a new role, moving to a new city, or facing other life changes, we’re here to help you navigate this journey with ease and resilience.

ADHD
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can make it challenging to focus, stay organized, and manage daily responsibilities.
Those with ADHD may experience difficulties in academic, professional, and social settings due to impulsivity, lack of attention, and difficulty completing tasks. Our therapy services provide evaluations and strategies to improve focus, productivity, and time management. We work with clients to develop personalized techniques and tools that address the specific challenges they face, helping them thrive in all aspects of life. Whether it’s academic support or improving daily functioning, our goal is to help individuals with ADHD unlock their potential and achieve greater success.

Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common mental health concerns, and it can impact many areas of life, including work, relationships, and physical health.
Symptoms of anxiety often include constant worry, panic attacks, and physical symptoms like tension or fatigue. Our therapy services are designed to help individuals understand their anxiety, identify specific triggers, and develop effective coping strategies. Using cognitive-behavioral techniques and other evidence-based approaches, we work with clients to reduce anxiety symptoms and create lasting change. Our goal is to help individuals regain control over their lives by equipping them with tools to manage anxiety in a healthy, sustainable way.

Depression
Depression is more than just feeling sad—it’s a persistent condition that can affect every aspect of life, from relationships to work and physical health.
Symptoms can include feelings of hopelessness, lack of energy, trouble concentrating, and a general loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. Our therapy services offer compassionate care for those struggling with depression, helping them understand the underlying causes and work through their emotions. We focus on providing clients with the tools and strategies needed to manage symptoms, improve emotional well-being, and regain a sense of joy and purpose in their lives. With the right support, it’s possible to overcome depression and create a path toward lasting mental health.

OCD
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by recurring, intrusive thoughts (obsessions)
and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions). Individuals with OCD feel compelled to perform these rituals to reduce the anxiety caused by obsessive thoughts or to prevent something bad from happening. Common obsessions include fears of contamination, harm, or making a mistake, while compulsions might involve excessive washing, checking, or counting.
The exact cause of OCD isn't fully understood, but it's believed to involve a combination of genetic, biological, and environmental factors. There may also be an imbalance in certain neurotransmitters, such as serotonin. OCD can significantly interfere with daily life, affecting personal, professional, and social activities. Treatment usually involves a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (specifically Exposure and Response Prevention) and medications like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar Disorder, formerly known as manic-depressive illness, is a mood disorder characterized by extreme mood swings
that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). During manic episodes, individuals may experience increased energy, impulsive behavior, racing thoughts, and a decreased need for sleep, while depressive episodes involve feelings of sadness, hopelessness, fatigue, and loss of interest in activities.
There are several types of bipolar disorder, including Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and Cyclothymic Disorder, each with different patterns of mood episodes. The exact cause of bipolar disorder is not fully known, but genetic, environmental, and neurobiological factors are believed to contribute. Treatment typically involves a combination of mood stabilizers, antipsychotic medications, and psychotherapy to manage symptoms and reduce the frequency and severity of mood episodes.

Stress Management
Stress is a natural response to external pressures, but chronic stress can have negative effects on both mental and physical health.
Stress management involves techniques and strategies that individuals use to cope with stress in healthy ways and reduce its impact on daily life. Some common stress management strategies include relaxation exercises (like deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation), physical activity (such as walking or yoga), time management, social support, mindfulness meditation, and seeking professional therapy.
Effective stress management helps prevent stress from becoming overwhelming and may reduce the risk of developing mental health disorders like anxiety or depression. It's essential to recognize signs of stress early, such as irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, or physical symptoms (headaches, stomach issues), and take proactive steps to address them.

Insomnia
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that involves difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early and being unable to fall back asleep.
This condition can be acute (short-term, caused by stress or other factors) or chronic (lasting for months or years). Insomnia can significantly affect one's physical and mental health, leading to fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and a weakened immune system.
The causes of insomnia vary and can include stress, anxiety, depression, medical conditions, medication side effects, poor sleep habits, or environmental factors like noise or light. Treatment for insomnia may involve lifestyle changes (such as maintaining a consistent sleep schedule), cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), relaxation techniques, and in some cases, medication to help regulate sleep.

Postpartum Care
Postpartum care refers to the medical and emotional care a woman receives following the birth of a child.
The postpartum period is crucial for a mother’s physical and mental health as her body heals from childbirth, and she adjusts to new motherhood. Common physical changes include vaginal or cesarean recovery, breastfeeding challenges, hormonal shifts, and fatigue. Monitoring and managing these health changes is vital in postpartum care.
Additionally, emotional and psychological health is an important aspect of postpartum care. Postpartum depression, anxiety, and mood swings are common and should be addressed. Support from healthcare providers, family, and friends can help with recovery, as well as counseling or therapy if needed. Regular check-ups with a healthcare provider during the first year after childbirth ensure that any complications are detected early and managed effectively.
